OUR STORY
NOPI, short for Number One Parts, Inc., originated in 1966 as an auto parts business in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded by William Meyer, the company initially focused on providing high-performance auto parts for enthusiasts. NOPI quickly grew in popularity, carving out a niche market in the automotive industry. By the 1990s, it had become a staple name among car enthusiasts, especially those interested in import performance parts. The company’s evolution mirrored the rising trend of car customization and modification, particularly within the import car community.
In 1988, NOPI ventured into the realm of car shows, launching the NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow. This annual event quickly became a premier showcase for the import car scene, drawing participants and spectators from across the country. The NOPI Nationals provided a platform for car enthusiasts to display their modified vehicles, compete in various categories, and share their passion for car culture. The shows featured a wide array of attractions, including car competitions, drag racing, and bikini contests, making them a comprehensive entertainment experience for automotive enthusiasts. The popularity of NOPI Motorsports car shows surged through the 1990s and early 2000s, at a time when the import tuning scene was reaching its zenith.
After several years of declining influence due to changes in the car show landscape and increased competition, NOPI is set to make a triumphant return in 2025. The revival aims to rekindle the excitement of its legendary car shows, with plans to update and expand the event to cater to modern automotive trends and technologies. This comeback is eagerly anticipated by long-time fans and new enthusiasts alike, who are keen to experience the unique blend of competition, entertainment, and community that NOPI shows have historically offered. The 2025 NOPI Nationals promises to bring together a new generation of car enthusiasts while honoring the legacy of NOPI’s rich history in the car modification and customization culture.
“NOPI Motorsports is making a comeback by revitalizing its legendary car shows, aiming to set a new standard for car culture and automotive events nationwide.”
